Change management will change. It kinda comes with the territory.
Since its inception, ACMP has tracked practitioner trends and demand. The creation of the Certified Change Management Professional is just one example of a response to the request of both our membership and the broader community. We won't be stopping there.
Looking back 7 years to the World Cafe that brought leading practitioners worldwide together to discuss the future of change management, there was a clear request to develop a 'series of credentials'.
What might that look like?
In response to the title of this article, it is unlikely that there will be a ninja level, but certainly a mastery level is a good candidate: In a recent survey we observed that more than a third of respondents had over 10 years of experience. WOW!
CCMP targets a mid-level of experience (3 to 5 years), so we need something to acknowledge those who continue to build on that foundation.
Credentials can also be creative in their acknowledgement of the multi-disciplinary nature of effective change management. It's not easy to nail down an 'X Factor' for change, but certainly we know there are many complementary skills that make a change manager effective. What about a combined change and coaching credential? Or Change - Strategy combo?
While there won't be a 'ninja' (or mutant, or turtle for that matter) category, ACMP is excited about the breadth of possibilities as we look to develop additional credentials.
