As you know, I'm very focused on developing my skills in the area of change management so I can help our organization continue to adapt and succeed. To that end, I've been following the development of the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP), a non-profit organization created to advance the discipline of change management.
In the past 5 years, ACMP has invested a large amount of resources to understand leading practice in change management. They conducted a worldwide job analysis that, over the course of two years, resulted in the launch of a Standard describing the best approach to manage change.
In addition they have created a Code of Ethics and a program for recognizing companies that deliver training that develops change management skills in alignment with The Standard.
In 2016 they launched their first certification program, the Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP). This credential is intended for experienced practitioners and recognizes their ability to apply The Standard to help organizations and individuals navigate change successfully. Obtaining this credential allows me to add the letters CCMP to my name and provides recognition of the depth of my skills and experience.
I have reviewed and meet the requirements:
- Education and Experience:
- A 4-year degree (or international equivalent) and 3 years (4200 hours) of change management experience, or
- Secondary education (high school or international equivalent) and 5 years (7000 hours) of change management experience
- Training: Completion of 21 hours of instructor-led change management training in a program aligned with The Standard in the past 7 years
I would like your support in applying for the CCMP credential which will require that I demonstrate my expertise by responding to essay questions and completing an exam.
There are a number of reasons why this will benefit our organization:
IT IS ALIGNED WITH RECOGNIZED INTERNATIONAL STANDARDS
Both CCMP and The Standard for Change Management on which it is based were developed according to strict guidelines set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). You can feel assured that you are investing in a quality program that strongly reflects leading practice in change management.
INCREASES THE CREDIBILITY OF CHANGE MANAGEMENT WORK
There are still many who are unaware of what change management can do and are skeptical about the benefits. A credential helps reinforce that it is an established, professional discipline and reduces the need to explain and justify what I do.
IT REINFORCES PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE THAT ENHANCES MY WORK
ACMP's Standard for Change Management is a rigorously developed guide with practical approaches that can be applied in any situation. To complete the process and pass the exam I must demonstrate my knowledge of The Standard and how to apply it. Studying the Standard means I'm learning from the experiences of many senior change managers who contributed to its development, further sharpening my skills, productivity and effectiveness.
it establishes/enhances a development path for change professionals
Many organization are looking for ways to improve the career path for change management professionals. The CCMP program require that I maintain the certification by demonstrating ongoing learning and development every 3 years.
The CERTIFICATION IS supported by an organization that continues to develop the profession
The Standard at the heart of the CCMP credential is not a static document. ACMP is at the forefront of trends and innovation in the field of change management and will update The Standard regularly, which i am expected to adopt as part of my ongoing development.
Affiliation with a progressive organization like ACMP is good for our reputation. For all these reasons, I'm asking for your support in applying for CCMP, including the application expense and time to take the exam:
- Application and studying will be on my own time
- Exam is 150 questions taken in a 3 hour sitting at a local exam center
- Fee: $595 for members, $745 for non-members (USD)
I will follow-up to answer your questions.
